Publication of Health and Safety Inspection Reports

A new scheme has been launched to allow employees and members of the public within Aberdeen to see how their workplace or the commercial premises they visit are complying with Health and Safety legislation.

From the 1st of March 2009 all routine health and safety inspections for which the Local Authority is responsible shall be placed on the Aberdeen City Council Website.

These inspections are carried out by officers from the Occupational Health and Safety Enforcement Service within Aberdeen City Council's Commercial team, who aim to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of standards of occupational health and safety arising from work activities within the City. Information is available in the Health & Safety Enforcement Policy.

These standards apply to both employees and to members of the public who may be affected by work activities (for example customers and passers by).

Aberdeen City Council as an Enforcing Authority has responsibility for the provision of health and safety enforcement services in approximately 3,900 premises covering a range of premises including the following:

  • Retail
  • Wholesale
  • Offices
  • Catering
  • Hotels
  • Residential care homes
  • Leisure and consumer services, such as launderettes, hairdressers, undertakers, shoe repair, tyre and exhaust fitters and churches.

To browse and search Inspection Report Outcomes, please see the link 'Health and Safety - View Inspection Outcomes' to the right.

You can search by business name, address, type and inspection date. After entering criteria and clicking on the Search button, you will see a list of all premises that match the criteria given. The results are paged, so at the end of the list you will see typical options for going to the first, previous, next or last page, or to a specific page number. The entry in the list for each premises may have two links shown in the rightmost column. If you see a link called 'Report', clicking it will display a copy of the most recent inspection report. If you see a link called 'Map', clicking it will display a map of the location of the premises. The map will appear in a new window.

For more information relating to the national Health and Safety inspection regime, visit the Health and Safety Executive website.

Please be advised that the inspection report which you are trying to locate may not be the last inspection carried out. This is due to a delay in uploading inspection reports onto the website. We are currently addressing this issue.
