Surfing has been described as THE coolest sport ever! It may not be the coast of California, but Aberdeen's beach offers good surf conditions suitable for any ability.

The main use of the term 'surfing' is for riding the waves using a board on which the surfer's ultimate aim is to stand up. It is an extremely challenging skill to learn, but a short session with tutors can get most people moving well and riding the waves in towards shore. It is an excellent group activity as surfers need to help and support each other as well as listen to directions from the tutor.

Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland have many beaches suited to surfing. The gentle gradients of beaches at Aberdeen and Balmedie are ideal and offer a variety of sites and locations.
