Orienteering is a fast paced, stimulating activity which requires participants to race against the clock whilst navigating around a course using a map and compass. The advent of digital timing and gps variations of orienteering keep this activity bang up to date.

It can be used to enthuse and motivate all ages and abilities, whilst building essential team work and communication skills. As the activity brings together both physical and mental challenges it is an ideal vehicle for young people with various motivations. It can be used successfully to teach various skills and academic subjects.

Aberdeen and the North-East have various locations that can be used for orienteering activities. Several active and successful local clubs organise competitions and training if you get the taste for it! There are a wide variety of locations with established orienteering courses in school playing fields, beautiful local forests and open sand dunes.  Maps exist for many local parks, forestry centres and even inner city locations.
