Creche Facilities in Sports Centres

Introduction

Having fun in the creche

Aberdeen City Council have Creche Facilities in 6 of their sports facilities throughout the city. They all are inspected and registered to The Care Commission who set the standards for our Creche facilities. The following Sports have Creche facilities:

  • The Beach Leisure Centre
  • Alex Collie Sports & Community Centre
  • Kincorth Sports Centre
  • Peterculter Sports Centre
  • Sheddocksley Sports Centre

Creche Opening Times

  • Beach Leisure Centre -   Monday - Friday 0930 - 1600 (Maximum 2 Hour Stay)                            
  • The Jesmond Centre - Monday - Friday 0930 - 1200
  • Alex Collie Sports & Community Centre Monday 0930 - 1230 & 1300 - 1500(No Monday afternoon during the school holidays 0930 - 1130 only) Tuesday - Friday 0930 - 1130
  • Peterculter Sports Centre Monday - Friday 0930 - 1200
  • Kincorth Sports Centre Monday & Wednesday 1330 - 1500 / Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 0930 - 1130
  • Sheddocksley Sports Centre Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 0900 - 1030, 1030 - 1200 / Tuesday 1200 - 1330, 1330 - 1500

Creche, Aims & Objectives

  • To enable families to take part in activities in the centre
  • To ensure that children are:  1. Cared for in a safe and secure environment. 2. Valued and treat with respect as individuals 3. Provided with a stimulating environment to enable them to develop skills, knowledge and confidence.

Bookings

  • Bookings may be made by telephone or in person at the reception area of the facility: Non-members - 3 days in advance, holders of priority booking pass or ACE Club membership  - 6 days in advance (membership number must be provided at time of booking)  N.b You may only book places for children in your care.
  • The Creche facility is only available to centre customers and must remain in the centre for the period of the booking.
  • Only children aged between the age of 8 weeks and 8 years may be admitted to the Creche. (8 weeks and 5 years only at Sheddocksley Sports Centre)
  • The maximum stay is 2 hours
  • Places in the Creche are limited so any cancellations must be notified to the facility as soon as possible

Staff Appointment, Ratios & Training

Prior to appointment all staff are interviewed and subject to the following checks:

  • Disclosure Scotland enhanced check
  • Doctors report
  • Two references (including previous employer)
  • Qualifications check

The ratio between staff member and child is dependant  on the numbers and ages of children and is maintained at the levels approved by the Card Commission.

The Training that all staff undertake is on childcare and first aid.

Confidentiality

Only the customers, Creche staff, managers and the care commission can access customer Creche registration forms. A private room is available for confidential discussions if required.

Complaints

Customers have the right to complain about any aspect of the Creche service and should initially contact the Duty Manager on site. Should the Duty Manager be unable to resolve the compliant a comments card will be issued, contact details for the Area Manager provided and the details of the compliant recorded. All complaints will be acknowledged within 5 days and responded to within 15 days.

Customers also have the right to complain directly to the registration/Inspection body The Care Commission, North Region, Johnstone House, Rose Street, Aberdeen AB10 1UD
