Creche - Health, Safety & Wellbeing
General Information
- Aberdeen City Council's Sports Centre creches are registered and inspected by the care commission.
- Creche registration forms must be completed for each visit and any subsequent changes of details notified to the Creche staff.
- All Children must be signed in/out of the Creche.
- Initial shorter visits should be arranged with the Creche staff in order to aid the settling in process for your child.
- Children using nappies must be changed prior to entry and a spare nappy provided for use. Should you wish to change your own child please notify the Creche staff when registering.
Illness
- If the Creche staff feel a child is unwell or constitutes a health risk to other children they will not be admitted to the Creche. In an effort to minimise the risk of cross infection your child will not be admitted to the Creche following illness, until after the period noted:
- Measles, chicken pox, Rubella - 2 weeks from appearance of spots
- Mumps - When cleared by Doctor
- Head Lice - When treated
- Conjunctivitis - When treated by doctor and cleared
- Impetigo - 1 week after commencement of treatment
- Stomach bugs, virus, diarrhoea etc - 48 hours after last episode of sickness
- Ear, nose and throat infections - 1 week
- Medication - Creche staff will only administer emergency medication. Please contact Creche staff for further information.
Other Information
- For health and safety reasons and to avoid any potential disagreements children should not bring their own toys to the Creche. However they can of course bring comforters or a particular favourite as part of the settling in process.
- It is advised that a drink and small snack (ready to serve) should be provided for your child. Please note peanuts are not permitted in the Creche.
- Children must wear shoes or socks in the Creche area and should wear clothes suitable for any play and art activities.
- If a child becomes excessively upset parents/carers will be recalled to the Creche.
- Sleeping babies will be monitored and checks recorded every 15 minutes.
- All toys and equipment are checked daily to ensure that they are safe for use.
- Customers will be informed of any accidents/incidents and asked to countersign the relevant recording form.
- Customers should be aware that if there are any suspicions of child neglect/abuse staff are required to contact the relevant agency.
- Fire drills are undertaken monthly in the Creche. Parents will be informed on arrival when there is to be a Creche specific fire drill. During the drill the staff and children in the Creche will be evacuated out of the designated fire exit.
