School/Nursery Admission and Enrolment
Details
Admission to School
The Education Service has the same starting date for all its schools in the middle of August in any particular year. Enrolment at school for Primary 1 pupils is normally during one week in January/early February. Information on enrolment week is advertised in the local press.
Children who will be five, up to and including the last day of February, in any year are admitted on a phased basis during the preceding August.
Enrolment
To enrol your child(ren) in school you merely approach the Headteacher of the school concerned. Most children attend the school for their zoned address. However, parents do have a right to choose which school their child(ren) may attend and information on this is provided in the "Notes for Parents" booklet which can be accessed on this site.
Enrolment of pupils regardless of age or stage (eg. Upper Primary, Secondary) is exactly the same as described in the above paragraph. Parents should approach the Headteacher of their zoned school or the school of their choice to see whether their child may be enrolled.
