Exhibition: 'Privies and other Filthiness...'

In late 2003 the evidence from The Environment of Medieval Aberdeen Project was presented at an exhibition at Aberdeen Art Gallery. These pages have been designed to bring this exhibition to you.

The exhibition title, 'Privies and other Filthiness...' derives from the account of a Council attempt in 1607 to prevent the dumping of every kind of waste around the Greyfriars' Church in Broad Street.

Without people there would be no environment and evidence has therefore been presented through the eyes of professionals, trades people and family groups within medieval Aberdeen (12th-17th centuries) and today. Click on a category below to find out more:
