Aberdeen City Council manages a stock of just over 23,500 houses (still one of the largest in Scotland), of which 2,175 are sheltered and 77 are very sheltered.
In each year we deal with around 9,400 applications for housing, maintain a waiting list of 6,230 and a list of 3,160 persons wishing transfers, relet up to 3,300 vacant properties, assist 2,285 homeless households, process applications to purchase houses resulting in 439 sales and manage a 30 pitch site for travelling people.
The Council is responsible for expenditure of around £58.5 million which is collected in rents from houses, garages, parking spaces and ground rent. The average rent per house in 2006/7 is £49.00 per week.
