EXPLORE ABERDEEN

Your Home

Picture of a girl sat at a tableAny child or young person coming to live with you needs to feel that there is space that is their own and that you have the time and energy to care for them. Any child you are adopting should therefore have their own room and be encouraged to stay fit, active and healthy by taking part in sports, clubs and activities in which they express interest.  To assist this we would require you to have your own transport or to have readily available access to public transport.

Aberdeen City Council does not set precise household standards for adoptive parents but we do expect their homes to be reasonably clean and safe and able to meet basic health and safety criteria.

Just as children who need permanent families come in all shapes and sizes, with different backgrounds and experiences so do the people that care for them.  If you like children and feel that you have time and space to offer love and a family home to a child who really needs it please get in touch with us.

Further information about adoption and the law including the different type of adoptive placement are described in the next section entitled.
