Gender Equality Scheme Annual Report 2008
In the Gender Equality Scheme the Council sets out its responsibilities as a public body to eliminate unlawful sex discrimination and promote equality of opportunity for women and men.
Following extensive consultations with community groups, voluntary organisations, partners, staff and Trade Unions, the Council has identified actions under the priority themes of:
- The Gender Pay Gap and Occupational Segregation
- Employment
- Violence against Women and Men
- Education
- Increased access to services
- Increased participation in society for women and men
Aberdeen City Council is also the responsible body as a local education authority and for ease of reference, the responsibilities and actions with education appear in a separate section within this Scheme and Action Plan.
