How we will carry out an investigation

Details

The investigation will be fair to both sides.  An investigation must be able to show that:

  • everyone involved understands the complaints procedure;
  • it was unbiased; and
  • it was thorough and all relevant facts were known and taken into account.

We will treat your complaint as confidential.  Investigating officers must follow data protection and freedom of information law while carrying out their enquiries.

For complaints received by email, we may forward your email to the appropriate Council service for investigation. Please note that by using email to raise your complaint, you are giving your consent, under data protection legislation, for your email to be forwarded for this purpose.

We will keep full and understandable records at all stages.
