Public Meeting
Parental Involvement in schools - the government seeks YOUR views.
- School Boards - or 'parent forums'?
- Your rights to information about your children's education
- Opportunities to get involved in decisions affecting your child's education
Where? Aberdeen Grammar School, Skene St, AB10
When? 12 April, 2005 from 6.30pm
The government plans to change how parents can be involved in decision-making
processes in schools. In particular they intend to replace the system
of elected school boards with new 'parent forums'. The Parental Involvement
Bill also deals more generally with parents' involvement in their children's
education, and about parents' rights to information on the education of
their children.
Come to the public meeting to discuss the new proposals.
- Find out from a Scottish Executive spokesperson about the new parent forums and how they would work.
- Discuss the proposed changes with other parents, teachers and members of school boards in your area.
- Make your views heard - the Scottish Civic Forum will prepare a report recording your views on the new Bill and will send it to the Scottish Executive as part of their consultation process.
