Consultation Procedures for Planning Briefs

When it is considered that they can be of value, planning briefs are produced for individual sites to give guidance on how the site can be developed. All issues that the developer will be expected to address are covered in the brief, for example; relevant planning policies, roads and traffic requirements, appropriate uses, scale, density, landscape and design considerations. It is the City Council's view that when a draft brief has been prepared there should be consultation with the local community. These consultation procedures are currently being reviewed.

The report Consultation Procedures for Planning Briefs was considered by the Planning Committee at its meeting of 22nd January 2004. Rather than accepting the recommendations contained in the report the Committee resolved to treat the document as a draft for consultation and to seek wider views on who should be consulted over future planning briefs.
