Local Transport Strategy - Draft Environmental Assessment Consultation
Aberdeen City Council is reviewing its Local Transport Strategy and intends to publish a draft document in Summer 2006 with a final document for September 2006.
The Local Transport Strategy is a document that is used to determine the transport policies of the Council, provides a guideline for developers on policy matters and steers transport and other related projects of the Council in a particular direction.
As part of this review, we are required by the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes (Scotland) Regulations 2004 to undertake a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA). The flowchart link below details the process.
The SEA involves a number of stages; in particular a Scoping Report and an Environmental Report are to be produced.
The purpose of the Scoping Report is to set out the groundwork for baseline information, establish trends and problems and to scope in or out policies, targets, objectives or potential plans.
As part of the Strategic Environmental Assessment process, we are undertaking two stages of consultation with a range of bodies, special interest groups and the general public. The first stage of consultation will be with the draft Scoping Report and then the draft Environmental Report in May 2006. The draft Scoping Report can be downloaded here.
