Hand, Heart and Soul Summer 2008
The Arts and Crafts Movement in Scotland
Aberdeen Art Gallerys major summer exhibition is a celebration of Arts and Crafts practice across Scotland between 1880 and 1939. This show goes beyond well-known names such as Edinburghs Phoebe Traquair and leader of the Glasgow Style, Charles Rennie Mackintosh to explore a nationwide flowering of creative talent. Based on the book by Dr Elizabeth Cumming, the exhibition features jewellery, metalwork, furniture, ceramics, glass, textiles, and architectural designs. A City of Edinburgh Museums and Galleries touring exhibition, supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation through its Regional Museums Initiative.
